Hi, I'm Omar.
I like to describe
my art as Ironic-Oneiric

Omar Tigrini

Irony

is the lens through which I interpret reality and human nature. It's my way of approaching even the heaviest and most complex themes with a light touch, free from preconceptions and conventional thinking

Oneiric

aims to transport the observer into a dimension without space or time – much like the one I inhabit when I'm creating. This helps to foster a more intimate connection with the artwork.

Omar Tigrini

A little about me

With over 20 years of experience as an Art Director and Graphic Designer, I find visual communication to be my most natural form of expression. Pastel allows me to reconnect with my inner child, getting my fingers messy with color.

I like to describe my art as “Ironico/Onirico” (ironic/oneiric)  —  two sides of the same anagrammatic coin (at least, they are in Italian!). Life and everyday experiences are my inspiration. Like a minstrel, I navigate the language of sarcasm and fantasy to depict the highs and lows of life, exorcising fears and celebrating emotions.

I’m not interested in beauty for its own sake, but rather in creating a visual code and a meaning that is direct and easily understood, accommodating different levels of interpretation. I want my paintings to trigger a reaction in the viewer – a reflection, a new perspective on a shared experience. A smile, or simply a moment of lightness, because art, in its essence, is also the purest form of entertainment.

Kind Words

"Tigrini works more like a modern film director.

He draws from a vast visual history to create fresh images that, while new, are deeply connected to the traditions of art and collective memory. "

Massimiliano Ferrario

Researcher in Contemporary Art History at the University of Insubria (Varese–Como)

Director of the Research Center on the History of Contemporary Art (CRiSAC)

"There’s a logic behind this mutated dream-state, which is to plunge the viewer into shared awareness, using familiar settings to find the drift, ultimately leading the viewer into his dream state. Omar’s work is very much situated in place and experience. It’s a world-view that is both contemporary and particularly magical. "

David West

American painter, writer, and performer based in Paris.West became familiar with Omar‘s work in the summer of 22, when he did a residency at Castello, in Valsolda.
