Sky, poles and swallows
Returning home after a few days away, I felt the valley where I live draw me in a true embrace of home. This feeling inspired The Houses series: four charcoal drawings that explore the meaning of "home" beyond just the building. Home is a place in your heart where you long to get lost, an intimate and emotional landscape where every perspective, even the most unexpected, feels familiar and welcoming.
The city house is a nod to my childhood, growing up on the plains where, when you looked up, all you saw was sky and electricity poles. And in the summers, the swallows would still arrive.
Materials
