René's prophecy

The alienation of modern man

René Magritte truly understood everything: man will eventually live hidden behind an apple, unable to distinguish what is real from what is not. The only thing that could not have been clear at the time was that the apple would be a logo behind the screens that conceal our identities.

René's Prophecy, inspired by Magritte's famous painting The Son of Man is not only a homage to the master but also a reflection on this state of alienation of modern man within a surrealism indistinguishable from reality in the digital age.

Materials

For this piece, I exclusively used professional, top-quality materials. It's rendered on Clairfontaine Pastelmat paper, selected for its ideal texture. I applied colors with soft pastels and pastel pencils from renowned brands: Sennelier, Blockx, Rembrandt, Faber-Castell Pitt, and Stabilo Carbothello. All pigments are premium and highly light-resistant, ensuring the artwork's enduring vibrancy.
